7 Fun Fall Events in Richmond, 2021

Happy Fall, y’all! It’s time to break out sweaters, bonfires, pumpkins and apples, and all things spooky. This time of year is not only beautiful here in Richmond, bursting with colorful fall foliage, but fun and exciting as well. We’ve got fun fall events planned that are worth the drive, whether you’re down the street or across state lines. Here are 7 that you don’t want to miss!

Millstone Festival

When: Oct. 9, 11 am – 10 pm

Where: Downtown Richmond 

 

Richmond’s first-ever Millstone Festival is taking over the downtown historic district on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The festival will be an exciting celebration of all things local, from delicious food and drinks to live shows featuring local talent. The downtown fun is set to include a homebrew contest, car-show, chili cook-off, and more. More than 60 local vendors and 15 food and drink vendors, including local favorites Apollo Pizza, Chenault Vineyards, and Dreaming Creek Brewery, have committed to joining the fun. Live bands will rock the Madison County courthouse lawn in the afternoon, including Clark Kissick and Friends, April with Whiskey River, Vintage Voodoo, and the Local Honeys

Pumpkins & More Harvest Festival

When: Sep. 25 – Oct. 30, 11 am – 5:30 pm

Where: Baldwin Farms

 

Nothing says fall fun quite like a visit to the pumpkin patch. From now until Oct. 30, visit Baldwin Farms any day from 11:00 to 5:30 for the Pumpkins & More Harvest Festival. Grab a cart and choose the best pumpkins, gourds, or winter squash from the farms’ 10 acre harvest. Kids (and kids at heart) can try out fun autumn activities like walking through the hay or corn maze, hanging out with farm animals, riding in the pumpkin cart, or climbing Mt. Baldwin. On weekends, guests can enjoy horse and pony rides. Snacks, drinks, and fresh produce are also available. Admission is free, and Baldwin Farms follows CDC recommended COVID-19 guidelines for all activities.

 

White Hall Paranormal Investigation

When: Oct. 15, 8 pm

Where: White Hall Historic Site 

 

This October, dive into the spooky side of the stately White Hall mansion! Join the staff at White Hall for an evening with the Lexington Paranormal Investigation Society. Together, you’ll tour the mansion after dark, learn about its past residents, and let experienced investigators guide you through the steps of completing your own paranormal investigation. Masks will be required, and all participants must be 18 or older. The event is currently sold out, but you can sign up for an email alert when more become available. 

Fall Vendor Market

When: Oct. 16, 12-6  pm

Where: Edge Body Boot Camp 

 

Love to shop local? Pay a visit to the Fall Vendor Market hosted by Edge Body Boot Camp. This second annual event offers a chance to support local business and, dare we say, get a head start on holiday shopping. You’ll find everything from sweet treats to clothing to embroidery to jewelry and more. Participating vendors include:

Mansion in Mourning: An Evening Tour

When: Oct. 16, 8 pm

Where: White Hall Historic Site 

 

Here’s another opportunity for spooky fun at White Hall: join staff and friends for a unique Halloween tour! Explore superstitions of the Victorian era, and the legends and ghost stories surrounding the mansion. Tours begin at 8 pm and 9 pm, with a limit of 20 guests per tour. Tickets are only $10 per person, so reserve yours now via Facebook or by emailing Dani Gift at [email protected]. Or, you can purchase your tickets in the gift shop; just be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Masks are required. 

Halloween Hoedown

When: Oct. 28, 6-8 pm

Where: Lake Reba walking trail

 

Looking for a fun, free family event this Halloween? The Halloween Hoedown is back for another year at the Lake Reba walking trail. The fun kicks off at Paradise Cove at 6:00, with vendors set up to hand out candy along the designated trail. Food vendors will also be set up in the Adventure Falls lot! Also, catch the B. Michael Caudill Middle School band on the main stage from 6:00 to 6:30! This event is free and open to the public, designed for children ages 12 and under. 

Halloween High Tea

When: Oct. 29 & 30, 7 pm

Where: White Hall Historic Site 

 

Ever been to a high tea on Halloween? Join the fun at White Hall for one complete with Halloween-themed food, spooky stories, and  maybe even a surprise or two. Dress up in your favorite costume for an evening of thrills, chills, and tea refills. Choose from one of two nights at 7:00– tickets are now available through etix at $45.00 per guest. Masks will be required in the mansion when guests are not seated.
