The Richmond Pow Wow September 25-26

Come and experience Native American culture and customs at the 2021 Richmond Pow Wow Native American Gathering on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, September 23 -25.

          The event will again be held in Richmond Battlefield Park, located at 1546 Battlefield Memorial Highway (US 421) south of Richmond.

 

          Powwows are the Native American people’s way of meeting together, joining in the dancing, singing, renewing old friendships, and making new ones.  It is a time-honored method to renew Native American culture and to preserve the rich heritage of the American Indian.  Visitors can experience Native American crafts, singing, dancing, folklore, and well as learn about their way of life through various interactive presentations.  Guests are encouraged to participate in the plentiful rituals and traditions occurring throughout each day.

 

          The cost for the event is $5.00 per person, $2.00 for children under 12.  The maximum fee per family is $15.00.  Please see the Richmond PowWow Facebook page for further event details.

Christmas Parade

Christmas Parade @ Main Street
The City of Richmond’s annual Christmas Parade will be held Friday, December 3rd, 2021.
THEME: “Christmas Around the World”
FLOAT CATEGORIES: Business and Civic
REGISTRATION: Registration will open on October 8th. All entries must be properly registered with the Richmond Parks and Recreation Office by the deadline of November 17th, 2021. Entries received after the deadline will require a $20.00 non-refundable application fee. Checks made payable to Richmond Parks and Recreation. No entries will be taken after November 30th.
LIMITS: THERE WILL BE A LIMIT OF ONE (1) VEHICLE PER ENTRY AND NO SEMIS OR TRACTOR-TRAILERS. SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION!
LINE-UP: The parade lineup will take place in the Alumni Coliseum Parking lot for all floats and other vehicles. All bands, animals, or walking groups (entries with no vehicles) will be lining up at the EKU Lancaster Lot. All entries will be notified prior to the day of the parade with the lineup schedule and times. Please provide an email so we can send your information. If you do not have an email, please check our Facebook page for updates: facebook.com/richmondkyparks The parade will leave the lot at 6:45 p.m.
ROUTE: The parade will leave the Alumni Coliseum Parking Lot at 6:45pm in order to be Downtown by 7:00 p.m. The parade will turn right onto Lancaster Avenue and will continue until Main Street. The Parade ends at Collins Street.
FULL PARADE: The full parade can be viewed after University Dr. when the bands will be inserted into the parade.
CANCELLATION POLICY: The parade will happen rain or shine. In the case of severe weather, updates will be posted to our Facebook page: facebook.com/richmondkyparks
